1. Sheinbaum decides to retain head of IMSS
The President-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced from her transition headquarters the incorporation of a new member to her expanded cabinet. In a move toward continuity, she reaffirmed Zoé Robledo as the director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
Additionally, she announced the appointment of Carlos Augusto Morales López as her private secretary. With this decision, Sheinbaum strengthens her team and indicated that she will continue with further cabinet appointments.

2. AMLO sends letter to Trump

Furthermore, the Mexican President clarified to the Republican candidate that his term as President of Mexico remains in effect until the last day of September. 3. Tesla pauses installation in Mexico
Elon Musk, co-founder and CEO of Tesla, announced that the construction of their plant in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, will be paused until after the U.S. elections and the future of trade relations between the two countries is determined. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador expressed confidence that the plant will still be established in Nuevo León, suggesting that the pause might be a strategy to speculate and generate profits.
The Confederation of Industrial Chambers (Concamin) regretted Musk’s decision, attributing it to political and electoral uncertainty in the United States, and highlighted the negative impact on the industrial and economic development of the region.

4. Mexican government reacts to the arrest of the Mayo Zambada
The government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed the capture of Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada in El Paso, Texas. Secretary of Security, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, detailed that the arrest was communicated to Mexico by U.S. authorities.
Rodríguez highlighted that, upon receiving the notification, the identities of Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López were verified through photographs and fingerprints. The Mexican government worked closely to confirm the arrest of both drug trafficking leaders.
