1. Sheinbaum announces five more cabinet members
President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum reported that in her government, Luz Elena González Escobar will be Secretary of Energy; David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz, Secretary of Health; and Raquel Buenrostro Sánchez, Secretary of the Civil Service. Jesús Antonio Esteva will be Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport; and Edna Elena Vega Rangel, Secretary of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development. Rogelio Ramírez de la O, who was not present, will continue as Secretary of Finance and Public Credit.
At the conclusion of the presentation of this new group that will be part of her cabinet, the president-elect said that all of them are very good and love the project to which she belongs.

2. Sheinbaum confirms José Merino as head of the government’s Digital Transformation Agency
President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo confirmed that José Antonio ‘Pepe’ Peña Merino will be the head of the Agency for Digital Transformation and Telecommunications of the Government of Mexico.
“We are going to present it later, but it is almost obvious that having done a great job in Mexico City, it will be in that area, because it is not the creation of something that will represent more budget, but bringing together different areas of the federal government that allow us to work on it, digitizing different areas will leave us more budget,” Sheinbaum said.
3. Sheinbaum meets with Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly
President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly, with whom “we talked about the future of the relationship with Mexico and the importance of the USMCA.”
Moments before the arrival of the representative of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, the next Secretary of Foreign Affairs, arrived at the transition house.

4. Mexican exports grow 5.4% in May, breaking record
Mexico’s product exports grew at a year-on-year rate of 5.4% in May to a record $55.67 billion, INEGI reported Thursday. On the other hand, Mexican imports totaled $53.68 billion, with an annual growth of 1.4%.
To provide context: the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that the value of global trade in goods will grow 3.3% in 2024.

5. Mexico resumes avocado exports to U.S. after agreeing on security model
Mexico and the United States agreed on a security model for U.S. investors in the avocado sector produced in Michoacán, which will allow the resumption of the export of the fruit to the neighboring country to the north, which had been suspended due to an incident with U.S. officials.
Shipments of avocados and mangoes from Michoacán to the U.S. had been temporarily canceled in mid-June because two U.S. government inspectors were detained on a state highway by protesting police.
